Indio California community has friendly people as described by its reputable nature of being a “festive city (Southern California Association of Governments, 2017).” As such, the members of the community are ready to welcome foreigners and share the different resources available in the city. The most vulnerable group within the city are adults who indulge in risky activities such as drug abuse and adults who do not possess a health insurance. These adults who lie at a median age of 32 are reported to have 22% of the population not insured and 14% who engage in drug abuse such as excessive smoking (Indio, CA Health, 2017). Lack of insurance leads to lack of enough funds to cater for health care services. One of the power groups in Indio California is Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) (Southern California Association of Governments, 2017). The group impacts on the community include introducing new sustainable policy initiatives. This impact a positive influence to the community. The city is reported to possess great rapport with the governmental and non-governmental organizations. Effective police force offers real time security and fire rescue teams work towards welfare of society by provision of services as per community’s expectations.
Sexuality/Reproductive
The relationship statues in Indio California include 19, 485 people who are never married, 1, 012 who are widowed, 5,147 divorced and 27, 017 who are married (Olson, 2017). With more females than male in the city, the relationships are not at an equilibrium as expected. The residents possess behavior of having fun from the many entertainment joints within the city. With a 4.4% population increase since 2010, the use of contraceptive and reproductive education programs are necessarily in place to regulate indulging in such activities (Olson, 2017). Moreover, the number of households without children surpass those with children. Household with children are 12, 475 and those without children are 15, 949 (Olson, 2017). With good access to birth control, the population is maintained at a manageable level. Good health services within the city is indicated with access to health care programs and services such as prenatal care among others.
Coping/Stress
The total crime risk in the city is above average with some crime issues such as rape cases, assault, murder cases, burglary, automotive theft risk and property risk (Olson, 2017). The number of crime issues within the city depict poverty issue. Sexual abuse lies at a lower rate as compared to other years. Drug abuse continues to decline within the city with expenditure on tobacco usage lying under the normal number and 86% of the adults being nonsmokers (Indio, CA Health, 2017).
Stressors
There are several stress management resources within the city such as support groups. Mental health issues are addressed in institution enacted for this purpose with the city. The insurance cover is used to partly pay for some of the health care services. Several policies are enacted to safeguard the community from disaster negative effects (Southern California Association of Governments, 2017). Southern California Association of Governments is involved in managing plans for intervention of possible disasters by enacting policies.
