Marketing Experience
I take a key interest in marketing because it is always applicable; whatever the product or service offered by a company. Marketing is done to increase popularity of the company and its products. As such, marketing requires good social skills and the power to convince new and existing customers. It also requires creativity to draw the public’s attention toward the subject being advertised. These dynamics in marketing have been an inspiration and motivated me to focus on understanding the role of marketing in business.
The video ‘Spring Lamb 2016. You Never Lamb Alone’ is an advertisement done to bring out the diversity of cultures within Australia. The video links lamb eating with culture, language, and sexuality. It features a gay couple, people of different races, and shades of color, all united by their love for lamb. Humorous as the video may appear, it features a serious concern which is the lack of discrimination in Australia.
In my view, the advert is effective. Television does not really bring about what Australia looks like due to perky white men dominating the screens. The video, however, shows various people of Australian origin, hence, bringing about a clear picture of the diversity of cultures in Australia. The video went viral after its release. This means that many people across the globe have watched this video and the message, that no culture or group is discriminated against in Australia, was passed across.
The degree and nature of marketing can lead to an increase in the value of the goods or services being advertised. The Coca-Cola Company, for example, has run many advertisements and sponsored many events. This has increased the popularity of Coca-Cola and has led to the creation of a global market for all products under the brand. The result of this has been massive sales of their products, hence, an increase in the income, all thanks to marketing strategies employed.
