The roles of a specialist nurse are aimed at provision of quality nursing care services to improve health care service delivery. Specialist nurses gain skills and competence fast since they only focus on a particular area of health care. Specialist nurses have acquired various skills such as innovative and inquiry which they apply in the clinical setting to improve the health care systems (Dury, et al., 2014). As a Masters in Nursing graduate, I have gained much knowledge and skills, and I am working on my project, which will also improve nursing care delivery.

My project aims at implementing a cost effective and safe nursing orientation program for home health nurses. The program’s main aim will be equipping the home health nurses with essential skills that are requisite in provision of quality and affordable nursing care. It is my hope that the program will reach more people and help transform the healthcare system. As such, I am more dedicated at seeing a robust change in the healthcare system.

My graduate knowledge has significantly helped me develop and accomplish the project. The graduate experience has made me prolong my learning experience by mentoring others on some of the skills I acquired. The orientation would enable me to educate on some of the current emerging issues they might not be aware of, assess their feeling on the same and get their recommendations. The recommendations would be the best source of the idea of innovation to improve the quality of health care delivery.

In my project, I have incorporated both theoretical and scientific knowledge. According to Dobrina, Tenze and Palese, (2014), palliative care is offered patients with chronic illness with the aim of improving the quality of life for the patients. Nurses are significantly involved in hospice and palliative care provision both the clinical setting and at homes. There are palliative and hospice care theories integrated into my project to help in emphasizing the need of palliative care among home-based patients with chronic illness (Dobrina, Tenze & Palese, 2014). Nurses continuously encourage patients to stay calm and avoid being stressed even though they understand the nature of their illness.

The shared theory is a comparison between social cognitive theory and conceptual model (Dobrina, Tenze & Palese, 2014). It equips the nurses with skills and competence to provide care to patients with critical illness. This approach provides nurses with skills for monitoring emotional changes, self-care palliative behaviors which are constantly experienced in patients with chronic illness. The nurses are, therefore, able to intervene and provide holistic care without necessarily using therapeutic drugs.

My education has presented me with different opportunities in life and my career. I had the passion for being a nurse, and now that I have accomplished it, I can now deliver services to patients and make a great difference. I have gained expertise in the clinical field, and I can provide quality services at the words. Besides providing practice services, I can take up a leadership role in the hospital and manage a group of patients with similar complications. The management might require me to undertake evidence-based research to establish the cause of the condition.

Additionally, my education has presented an opportunity to advance my studies to higher levels. I can proceed with my studies to become an Advanced Practice Nurse, which may be attributed increasing cases of chronic diseases, which I am very interested in managing. According to Bryant-Lukosius, et al. (2016), reviews have demonstrated the role of Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) in improving the quality of health care service delivery and reducing the cost incurred. Thus, this will be a great opportunity to make a huge impact in the society I live in.

As an interested and innovative nursing scholar, I would improve the health care delivery to a great extent. The knowledge, skills, and competence I have acquired allow me to engage in innovative health care activities with the aim of improving the health services delivery. I believe in inquiry, creativity, and innovations as the best way of solving a problem. Once the challenge has been identified, research can be done to establish the cause before innovations are created. This would involve continuous identification of challenges facing the health care system and come up with efficient and cost effective measures of solving them. Therefore, there I a need for continuous research and funding of the use of technology in helping revolutionize the provision of health care.

Conclusively, my project is meant to enhance service delivery among nurses by equipping them with more knowledge on emerging trends in health care. Nursing specialties focus on a particular field of health care and have improved service delivery to patients. These specialists engage in research and innovation an aspect which enables them to come up with new ideas for solving health based challenges. By focusing on home health nurses, I hope to determine technicalities that will ensure reduced orientation costs, which will go a long way in improving service delivery.
