Conduct a research study and present your findings in a written presentation. The project goal is to gain experience in analyzing the airline industry.
NOTE: There is NO sample for this assignment. The industry analysis project is completely up to each writer artistically and creatively.
This is an explanatory paper and the requirements are to provide as much information as possible about the airline industry as listed below:
The paper must contain 10 full pages, not including executive or reference pages. The paper must have a minimum of 6 sources, 2 of which must be dated 2002-2004. It is mandatory that this paper be typed in 12-point, Times New Roman font. This paper must be submitted in APA format.
PROCEDURE:
* Do the study on an individual basis.
* Determine the information that you feel should be gathered for such a project. Secondary data sources will be the major sources.
* Determine how and where you will secure this information.
* Do the data collection and analysis.
The following 7 items are mandatory items to be included in the paper:
1. Cover the top 3 ?players? of the industry (minimum requirement).
2. Industry composition, including information on concentration.
3. Geographic dispersion.
4. Industry growth- past, present, and future.
5. Current problems and opportunities- market, competition, government, technological. (SWOT)
6. Cost patterns and profitability patterns.
7. Environmental Dimensions
The following secondary sources should be consulted, and (if you take information from them) cited in the study:
* Library and Subject Areas Databases
* US Census publications and others including Current Industry Reports
* Reputable Internet Sources from: search engines, company web sites
* US Government Monthly Catalog
* Wall Street Journal Index or alternate business journal index
