One approach to dematerialization is decarbonization, which is the reduction and elimination of carbon from energy production.

This tool will ask you a series of questions about your consumption and lifestyle. Please make sure to enter information into the additional windows under “ADD DETAILS TO IMPROVE ACCURACY” whenever it appears. After entering all the data requested, the tool will provide your results in two parts. Thoroughly review your results and explore all the parts of the tool after reviewing them.

Consider the largest component of your footprint. Is it your home? Is it traveling by airplane? Or is it your diet? Then answer the following questions:
- What are the best ways to effectively reduce the largest component of your ecological footprint?
- What changes would you have to make in your lifestyle, working habits, personal choices, and other areas to achieve this reduction?
- Honestly and practically, is this something you would consider doing?
