Assignment Brief and Guidance:
Lilian Anderson, is the Managing Director of Anderson Construction ltd, a medium sized house building company. This private limited company has been owned and run by the same family for 54 years. The family are considering making the company a Public Limited Company, to gain more investment.
Lilian has approached you, a company formation specialist, to produce a REPORT titled “A critical analysis and comparison of the development of construction companies, their structure and business ethos and how this has affected construction contracts and tendering”.
Lilian will be using this report to present a power point to the company board at its next meeting, so they can discuss the possibility of changing the company structure.
The report should contain:
- Historical development of construction companies and their business ethos
- Types and size of construction companies operating in UK and the type of work they undertake and numbers of employees.
- Types of company structure and lines of communication
- Role of professional bodies within construction
- Links between professional, technical and skilled staff
- The relatiponship between different construction companies in completing construction projects
- Practice of sub contarctors and type of work tendered to contractors
- Types of contract used by construction companies
- Tendering practices
- Picture of construction sector today and construction future.
Submission Format:
The submission of the assignment should be in the form of a report. The report should be aimed at other construction professionals and company directors, who are attending the meeting, so should contain relevant data and technical language. Your choice of font face and font size should contribute to the clarity of the information. The presentation should be well structured, using headings, sub-headings and paragraphs as appropriate. Any images, graphics or text derived from other resources must be correctly referenced using a standard form of citation. A bibliography should be included in a standard academic format. The recommended word limit for this assignment is 3000-5000 words, but you will not be penalised for exceeding the total word limit.
