Each Student will do an Oral Presentation(Video) on a current event (newspaper, web article or magazine) that relates to the topic you are assigned. I want you to find new scientific information on our topic, not just a review of what has been known for decades. Record a video presentation using your phone or laptop then turn in below.
You need to obtain an article from a magazine, newspaper or web article from an accredited news source (NOT Wikipedia), that has been published within the last year.
For example, during our course we learn about microscopes. I used a search engine to search “science news articles about microscopes” and found a number of articles. One in particular, from the NY Times published eleven months ago, caught my eye, Expansion Microscopy Stretches Limits of Conventional Microscopes. It has some new, up to date information about my topic…perfect.
Using the Coastline online library is a great resource for finding an article.
Also, here are several links you can try to find recent biology articles:
Regardless of where you find the article you need to attach a copy of the article ( link) that you used when you submit.
Specifics: Presentation should be only a couple of minutes long
Video should Include:
- Introduction: Introduce Yourself (Your name), your topic and the title of your article.
- Identify the authors and source of the article (where/how did you find it?)
- If applicable, provide definitions & descriptions of relevant information then discuss why this article is important, results they found (i.e. why did you pick this article? What is interesting about what they found?)
- Final thoughts (Conclusion)
