Final Essay Guidelines
Instructions: Use the following questions to develop your final essay. The first hald of the essay will be about the topic or topics that you found most interesting in this course and/or in the area of science and technology. The essay will then address your own relationship and experiences with science and technology.
- In the introduction to the essay, tell us about what interested you to take the class, and/or what your expectations are, and what you are most curious about related to science and technology?

- Then, address these questions using a reading or readings from the course or provided in the “Additional Sources” folder. Which issue or topic do you think is most urgent or important in science and technology today? What are the key takeaways and important points in the reading or readings you chose? (Takeaways refer to the main points, ideas that you came away with from the reading.) How did this reading help you learn about or understand this topic or issue?
(This part can be 3 or more body paragraphs.)
- End your essay with 2 paragraphs that discuss your own relationship and experiences with science and technology— what is the impact on your personal or educational experiences? How do you think advances in science and technology will affect you in your future career and life? End with a conclusion that tells the reader your biggest takeaways or insights from the topics we discussed.
(Two paragraphs plus the conclusion.)
Format, Expectations:
- Use standard essay conventions and provide citations if you use ANY sources that were not part of course materials.
- Plagiarism will not be accepted and will result in an F on this paper. If you use words that are not your own, you must paraphrase and provide sources. If you are unclear about what constitutes plagiarism, see me before submitting this assignment.
- Your essay should be a minimum of 500 words (2 pages double-spaced) and aim for no more 1000 words (4 pages double-spaced.)
