Scholarly PowerPoint Presentation: The Importance of Informatics and Healthcare Technology in Nursing Practice
Each student will develop a scholarly Powerpoint presentation to inform peers/colleagues of the importance of informatics and health technologies in nursing practice based on specific, pre-approved topics. Presentations should have approximately 15 slides and will be presented to the class on the final meeting day of the semester.
Important Considerations:
- This assignment requires the in-depth analysis of a particular issue or topic area.
- Your topic for the presentation should be pre-approved by faculty to avoid multiple presentations on the same topic.
- Use the textbook, online resources, and journal articles to support your analysis.
- You will present this Powerpoint to your classmates on the final class day.
Scholarly Powerpoint Guidelines:
Introduction (20%) | Introduce your chosen topic and discuss how it relates to nursing practice. Identify key stakeholders related to the topic that you are discussing. Provide an overview of what you will discuss in the presentation. |
Informatics and Healthcare Technology Issue (50%) | Provide background information on the topic that you have selected. Discuss key safety issues related to your topic.Identify five ways that technology use in your topic area could improve patient outcomes.Discuss how health information technology use in your topic area could be used to increase patient dignity and autonomy.Discuss how health information technology use related to your topic area could be changed to improve the workflow of key users.Discuss the how health technology impacts (positively or negatively) health equity related to your topic area. |
Recommendations for Administrators (20%) | Make five key recommendations for best practice related to your health information technology and your chosen topic area. Make these recommendations as if your are presenting to health care administrators and trying to convince them that your recommendations should be adopted. |
References (10%) | • Use (Author, year) format for on the slides after the cited information, and then provide a reference list at the end of the presentation. • Use at least 5 references in the presentation |
