He has fun having an imaginary interaction with monsters and feels lonely after having this fun. “Wild Things” are the antagonist of the story. From Max’s imagination, the monsters roared terribly and gnashed their terrible teeth, showed their terrible claws, and rolled their terrible eyes.

He finds monster-like creatures that gnash their teeth, show their terrible claws, and roll their eyes to scare away Max. Max is not afraid of the monsters and uses his magic trick to gain control over them.     Climax (turning point): Max makes himself the King of all Wild Things. He becomes friends with the wild things and plays with them. He orders them to play in the moonlight as he rides on the back of the Wild Things.     Falling Action:  Max orders all the Wild Things to stop playing and send them to bed without supper. He then smells his food from across the ocean which makes him begin feeling lonely. He says he wants to go back to a place where someone loves him most.       Resolution: boards the boat to go back home but the Wild Things try to convince him to stay. They roll their terrible eyes and gnash their terrible teeth threatening that they will eat up Max. Max bids them goodbye and sails for years to get back to his room. He finds his dinner waiting for him.
