Semester 2 Assessment Guidance 2021 / 2022

Assessment Context

This assessment is 50% weighted and covers the semester 2 content as outlined below:  

Human resource planning: key contemporary future of work labour market trends and their significance for workforce planning.

Contemporary business issues: anticipating and responding to contemporary business challenges that impact HRM.

Assessment Brief

Prepare a 2000-word business report that critically evaluates the factors that need to be considered when implementing a HR strategy related to a contemporary issue covered in semester 2.

The assessment must be presented as a business report and include the following:   

  1. A cover page indicting the title of your report; the word count; the module name and code; and your student number. Please do NOT include your student name as all assignments for this module are marked anonymously.
  2. A contents page;
  3. An introduction;
  4. The main body of the report which may be presented in various subsections; 
  5. A conclusion;
  6. A set of recommendations;
  7. A full reference list in Harvard@Newcastle format.  

The business report should include:   

  1. Definitions of key terms related to your selected topic.   
  2. Reference to the key models, theories and frameworks relevant to your selected topic.  
  3. A detailed analysis of the factors to be considered for your selected topic.  
  4. Reference to appropriate case study examples and industry data / examples to support your discussions.  
  5. A good balance of good quality academic and practitioner reference sources.
  6. The report should be presented in Arial or Times New Roman, font size 12; include page numbers; and conform to the norms of Harvard@Newcastle referencing.

Formative Assessment Feedback

  1. Peer and tutor feedback: This will be available through participation in the seminar activities.  
  2. Pre-assessment support: This will be available in the form of assessment guidance tutorials.
