Background:
Two megatrends in Chapter 1 are social media and Big Data. Social media is any Web-based application that enables users to communicate, interact, and collaborate in various ways. For example, Blackboard and Zoom have provided faculty at Trent University with a way to transform the in-class experience online. Big Data, on the other hand, is a term that applies to the exponential growth of data (both structured and unstructured) that is gathered from any digital course including social media. This data resides on cloud servers and data centres around the globe and provides the fodder for business intelligence and advanced analytics. As the economies of the world slowly re-open in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and before a vaccination becomes widely available, successfully “tracking and tracing” the virus among populations will help to restore confidence in our safety measures and lessen the blow of multiple waves of infection. Germany and Taiwan, for example, have shown that social media and the integration of Big Data from multiple sources provides an effective guard against community spread.
For this case study:
2a) Why does Canada, as a matter of concern, not have a world-class system in place for tracking and tracing?
2b) What are the impediments and how can they be overcome?
ONLY REQUIRED TO DO PART B of this question please.
