Provide a critical analysis of a specific development decision that drew on an environmental assessment process. You may select one from any Australian state or from another country. There are many examples available online, and some of the more controversial assessments have been written about in academic literature.
Outline the regulatory context in which the EIS was required (i.e. relevant state and federal legislation)
Describe the process followed and discuss whether the decision made was in line with the recommendations made through the assessment process and related reports.
You may choose to focus on a specific type of impact such as biodiversity or water quality, in which case you would need to draw on more specific academic literature relating to assessment of these types of impacts.
Assess whether all viewpoints have been canvassed and accounted for. Provide your own assessment of how well you think this process measured up to best practice in EIA drawing on relevant academic literature on best practice principles.
Give your critical opinion about whether the process and outcome contributed to sustainable development or not.
You are expected to provide a minimum of ten academic references that are additional to government or industry reports that you refer to. The academic references should be used to support your critical analysis of the assessment process followed and of the subsequent decision.
Havard referencing
The project is the Townsville Precinct Project (located on the Queensland government website if you need more information)

Would be good to critically analyse the EIA process against the IAIA best practice principles (main ones of transparency, public participation) and also how EIA handles impacts on biodiveristy
