Week 7 Discussion
This week our focus is on leader-follower relationships. For this week’s discussion, consider the practices, policies, and norms that you would expect to find in an organization that prides itself on building a culture of respect and trust. Reflect on the following statement, “The most important question we ask of potential leaders is, ‘Can we trust you not to abuse the privilege of authority?’ (Hogan & Kaiser, 2005).” Leaders who engender trust provide a strong ethical foundation from which followers will emulate. What are the most effective ways to use power but still engender trust? What advice would you give to a company CEO about building a culture of respect and trust?
DB POSTING REMINDERS:
- Be sure to reference your eText or other research to support your response. You will be graded on how you relate the class readings to your initial post.
- When you make your initial post, please fully answer the question and make substantive responses – i.e. at least 200 words that really dive into the topic and show that you’ve read in your texts and done research to support your opinions.
- Apply appropriate examples that illustrate your points – feel free to bring your workplace experiences into the discussion. It helps us all learn when we can relate our past workplace experiences to what we’re learning here in the discussions.
- All discussions and assignments required the use of APA to cite and list references. APA stands for the American Psychological Association and the the guidelines that they develop for formatting and citing sources in research papers are required in many college level classes that deal with areas of Business, Criminal Justice and Education.
