The Proposal (25 pts.) assignment is a document that “proposes” the idea or project for your upcoming class assignment, the Feasibility report. In order to write your Proposal document, you must first decide what topic you will write about for your Feasibility report. The Proposal is a document that “proposes” the idea that will be the topic for your Feasibility report, which is a report that explores the feasibility of a given project.
Make sure to keep your idea or project topic small and within the scope of this class. Also make sure that you write the title for your Proposal and for your Feasibility report, in the question format such as:
“Is It Feasible to Build
Another Parking Garage on the C. State University Campus?“
“Is It Feasible to Offer
Healthy Eating Classes to C. State University Students?”
“Is It Feasible to Build
More Bicycle Paths in Loveland, C.?“
About the audience analysis for your Proposal Document:
Since I am the person who will read your Proposal, you are asked to address your Proposal to me as the “reader” and as your audience. You will see a “reader” referred to in the Proposal Format and Requirements document. In the real world, the “reader” might be a publisher, a lender, a bank, etc., whoever might be the authority for approving your Proposal. In this classroom setting, I am the “reader” referred to in the Proposal Format and Requirements document, therefore I am the audience for your Proposal document. Think of me as an interested, but not expert, audience for your topic area and write to my knowledge level. You are basically trying to convince and persuade me as the reader of your Proposal, that your idea for your proposed Feasibility report is good, that it is needed in the world, and that you are qualified to write it. You will also explain how you will go about developing your given idea.
Later when you write your Feasibility report, you will be writing to a different audience, the audience of your choice. But for this Proposal report, you are writing to me as your audience and “reader.”
