The objectives of this course are:
1. Describe the history and current status of hospice and palliative care nursing.
2. Discuss aspects in end-of-life decision making.
3. Utilize resources to support scholarly writing, presentations, and discussion.
4. Evaluate strategies for nursing interventions for assisting in loss, bereavement and grief.
5. Analyze theory of hospice and palliative care as a basis for advanced practice of nursing.
6. Incorporate concepts of culture and spirituality in hospice and palliative nursing care delivery.
7. Discuss the relationship of theory to nursing research in hospice and palliative care to support evidenced-based care.
8. Examine the scope and standards of practice for hospice & palliative care.
Please submit a journal that self-assesses meeting of course objectives with specific examples of how the objectives were met (discussion board, reading, assignment, etc.). The journal will be 400 to 500 words and will identify learning areas met and areas for future growth.Please use syllabus for the work book titles.
