1. Joe is a 32 year old relatively depressed guy whose wife left him recently because he was drinking too much. He hates his job and has very few friends or outside activities. Joe does NOT want to come to therapy but his sister told him he needs to go. Based on your books’ discussion of “reluctant clients”, what might be the particular reasons Joe is resistant to therapy? And what can his therapist do to decrease Joe’s resistance? Put this into your own words.
2. Julia has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and Major depression. WHAT treatment would be MOST indicated in terms of being an effective treatment for her? And how likely is it that Julia will get better? What other treatment modalities might need to be utilized? 3. Create your own case that uses Aversion therapy as a type of therapy. List the patient and the diagnosis and the type of aversion therapy and the reason that it is being used as a treatment modality and, if you want to, what is the likelihood that it will work?

Tina is a therapist who sees patients with anxiety disorders, depression and general adjustment disorder issues such as grief and coping with relationship breakups, work stress, etc. Tina uses a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy in her work with clients but she also uses some other styles of therapy that have been shown to be effective with these populations. Please list at least three other styles of therapy that would be effective with this population and list the “objectives” of those styles of therapy.
