I. The paper will be written with a minimum of five pages of content and a maximum of seven pages. Title and Works Cited or Reference pages will not be included in the minimum five pages of content.

There must be a minimum of five total resources used to write the paper. Three or more must be scholarly and/or peer reviewed. The others might be news articles or informational websites on the topic or videos. You may not use Wikipedia in the paper.

II. The presentation can be in the form of a Power Point or in a Prezi (if you want to get a little more creative and know how to this. You will not receive more points if you do the Prezi.) The scoring will be based on the guidelines and the scoring Rubric requirements. One slide is to clearly explain the learning outcome that was chosen and how the outcome relates to the project in a brief description including some visuals and/or auditory message. The chosen theme above must be transparent and fully expressed within the body of the project. If you feel more discussion is necessary, prepare an additional slide to explain.

The due date will be the last class session.

As indicated the slides will cover a piece of the topic and must connect to a learning outcome in the course.

Carefully follow the scoring rubric as well.

Here are just a few of many resources that might help you in choosing a topic:

New York Times: Eastern Art through Western Eyes (July 10, 1994) (PDF file)

Ask any and all questions as you begin to do your research. If you are unsure about using a source, ask the Instructor. Remember that the FDU online tutoring center is available. You must do your work early to submit for feedback to this service.

Utilize the FDU Library and its many resources to help you write your paper and find research. You can always email them as well.

Here is an example to help guide you through the paper and project:

Let’s say your topic connected to Music and Culture in Institutions and Social Networks: and your individual choice was to explore Reggae in your project.

Now you would take the same topic and develop it into the Research paper. You would write the paper based on this topic making sure you connected it to a chosen Learning Outcome for the course.

Learning Outcomes for the Course are as follows;

Students will be able to:

Analyze the role of work, faith, spirituality, and justice, within and across cultures
Evaluate the personal, community, and global impact of the economy within and across cultures
Critique and understand the influence of gender on work and other power disparities within and across cultures
Understand and explain the embeddedness of cultural products and/or practices within cultures
Demonstrate an understanding of the influence of cultures and cultural contexts on human behavior through comparing and contrasting similarities and differences among cultures.
