Ethical organization

Ethics refers to the moral principles that people hold and is used to determine the acceptable in the society.  Ethical culture in an organization is usually determined by the employee code of conduct. The ethical organization culture in a company is useful in attracting and retaining the available customers. The ethical is not necessarily religiously correct. This paper shows how biblical worldview supports ethical organizations.

From a Christian point of view, ethical organization helps to shape the character of an individual. Another philosophical point of view is naturalism. It states that a person’s behavior is determined by his environment and the supernatural is discounted. It also supports nihilism which goes against the existence of a supreme being. Theism is another viewpoint which serves as the pillar of Christianity. The Bible supports ethical culture alongside other biblical principles. This means that most ethical principles are in line with religion.

The ethical culture exists in two levels. One level refers to the visible values presented through a person’s words or activities. These are easily acted out by employees as they usually come across in the presence of other people. The second level deals with thoughts and beliefs which run in a person’s subconscious mind. These include ethical values such as honesty and integrity (Daft, 2012). Christianity preaches these values to transform people’s perception of life. If people observe the code of conduct, with time they will have these values in their core. They will therefore be inclined to live by these principles regardless of their natural environment.

The author Morgan G., in his book ‘Images of Organizations’ (2006), says that an organization whose management and staff follow the code of conduct portray an attractive image to the customers and competitors. This means that organizations which are run ethically are more likely to be more successful as compared to other organizations.

As discussed above, from the biblical view of the world, ethical organizations are better suited to compete in the market. They are also highly likely to be successful as the ethical principles increase efficiency and reliability in the workforce.
