These are the requirements for the task for grading:
Task 1 of this module is assessed by means of a written assignment which relates your experience of one aspect of service user assessment in your field of practice.
The requirements and criteria for a pass are as follows:
Using your experience from practice placement and evidence from supporting literature, discuss how you assessed the care needs of the service user(s) (and carer(s)where appropriate) whilst on your placement. You should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the assessment process as a part of safe and effective relationship centred care. This will include:
- Theory underpinning the assessment process
- The reason for undertaking the aspect of physiological assessment and its’ relevance to the health care needs of the service user
- Strengths and limitations of assessment tools within physiological assessment
- How service user involvement, care, compassion, privacy and dignity are maintained within the assessment process
- Communication skills within assessment
- Observation skills within assessment
- Recording skills within assessment
As in all assignments
- In order to ensure confidentiality, please use an assumed name for your selected service user(s) and refrain from including any details through which a reader could identify the service user, the care location or staff. You should clearly state within your work that you have done this.
- Structure your work logically, providing an introduction and conclusion, using double-spacing and page numbers throughout.
- Use the Sheffield Hallam University referencing system: please refer to the guide to referencing and citations.
You are required to write 2,000 words (+/- 10%). Your mark in this assessment will count for 100% of your overall grade for the module.
N.B. There is no requirement to follow a specific or named reflective model although students are free to do so should this be preferred. Those that do so should be careful to avoid over expending the word allowance describing the nature of reflection which is not a requirement.
For further guidance in this task please refer to detailed assignment information.
