INTENSIVE WRITING ASSIGNMENT

Part 1: Describe a patient perspective of a psychosocial experience (one covered in course outline)
- In first person (you) narrative voice, describe the current patient experience—signs, symptoms, impact, any stimuli, current treatment.
- Provide background information—past history, treatment perceived, personal and environmental strengths and deficits

Part 2: Interventions
- Describe two western health care (traditional) interventions that may be incorporated to address patient health alternative described in part 1. Provide rationale citing a source for each (sources must be journal articles published within past 5 years)
- Describe one complementary therapy modality that may be used in this situation. Provide a rationale an cite a source for this intervention (source must be journal articles published within past 5 years)

Part 3: Nurse as Healer
- Describe the concept of presence or caring. Cite a source (source must be journal articles published within past 5 years)
- Describe a first person (you) narrative of a nurse incorporating presence or caring in his/her practice with the patient you described in part 1
Papers must use APA guidelines and be submitted in a WORD document
- Part 1 is a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1 ½ pages in length
- Part 2 is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 pages in length
- Part 3 is a minimum of 1 ½ and a maximum of 2 pages in length
Papers must include at least four (4) journal articles published within the past 5 years. There should be , at a minimum, one scholarly citation for each of the following points: each intervention (3), and either caring or presence (1). You can add additional citations as needed. The text book is NOT a scholarly source. Direct quotes are not acceptable and must be paraphrased using your own words.
The paper is submitted in 3 separate sections. Parts 1 and 2 are edited drafts and will be returned for revisions. The final paper (Part 3) consists of Parts 1 and 2 with revisions and Part 3. The final grade is the sum of all 3 parts of the paper.
Parts 1,2,3 must be presented in hard copy to faculty and submitted to Canvas (which has turnitin capabilities). In the case of Parts 2 and 3, the revised original drafts with suggestions must also be submitted to faculty.
