Write a page long summary of the last third of the novel, Like Water For Chocolate. Following the college level written summary of the last third of the novel, write a dialectical journal(#1), according to the novel, using the thematic statement: Desire consumes itself in its own fulfillment. Write dialectical journal #2, according to the SAME novel, but using this thematic statement: Appetite and passion are often larger than the people that bear them.
Both of these dialectical journals must be WELL written and should include the following parts:
1. QUOTE.. Quote an example from the novel, Like Water For Chocolate, that reveals the thematic statement that I provided. (take note they aren’t the same thematic statements!)Be sure to cite with page #.
2. PARAPHRASE.. Put the quote in your own words, then identify the speaker, the listeners, and what the speaker is talking about (context)..DONT forget to mention how it reveals thematic statement
3. ANALYZE.. Break up the quote to study how it reveals the thematic statement (pending on which journal, either 1 or 2, different thematic statements!)Explain why it is in the story.
4. SYNTHESIS.. How does your example relate to an example from another novel. What makes them both good examples of the thematic statement. How do they differ. You MUST include a quote from that other novel you compare with. !!! COLLEGE CALIBER!!
