You are assigned to negotiate an incident where a man has barricaded himself and is holding his wife against her will. Upon making contact with the suspect, it is obvious that he is in the crisis stage. He is screaming and ranting about his cheating wife. He orders you to leave and remove all the police from the area as this is between him and his wife.
At this point your plan is to use active listening skills. Discuss what you hope to accomplish by using active listening skills. Identify two or three active listening skills and give examples of how they may be used in this scenario.
