Week 4
4.1 Addressing the Needs of an Underserved Population (10 slides/pages with 5 references)
While many strides have been made over the past century to ensure education is provided to different populations of students, there are still significant changes that need to be made to aid underserved populations, such as homeless families. You will develop a new educational plan that will support the needs of an underserved population.
Identify a specific goal for your educational plan. Examples of goals may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Providing access to PreK
Research the following information on your identified goal:
- Current statistics regarding your identified goal, including things like current available access to PreK
- Any programs or schools that have been implemented in the past or present to meet your goal
- Previous and current program or school strengths and shortcomings that have impacted their level of success
Develop a well-supported oral and visual presentation that could be shown to a school board or executive council. The presentation must illustrate your plan to address the identified educational goal and include the following:
- The overall goal for the educational plan
- Research used to determine the need for this plan
- Previous or current plans that have been developed to address this need
- Strengths and shortcomings of previous or current related plans
- How your plan will be implemented
- How your plan will address the identified shortcomings
- How you will measure the success of your new plan
